while you're moving around, you get further from a network and closer to another one. swifi automatically switches you to the closer network. Upcoming Updates: - Improved 5GHz priorty. - Optimized battery usage. - Faster switching. ----------- FAQ ----------- Can this app switch between repeaters? No, if two Access Points have the same name and encryption settings, they are saved as one wifi connection, they would have the same ID, apps like 'SWIFI' use the ID to connect to an Access point. Why do you need 'Location' enabled on Android 6.0? It's an Android bug that will be fixed in a future release, but in the meantime, you have to enable Location for SWIFI to work. I know this is annoying, sorry :| https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=185370 Does this app consume a lot of battery? No, it barely consumes any battery, it only runs when you have a signal that is weaker than your 'Minimum Strength'.

This stopped working for some reason. It may have something to do with the fact that one of my networks is on channel 13, but it just doesn't want to connect to tgat network. I shows the notifications indicating the switch attempt, but doesn't actually switch. If this can be fixed – let me know.

Darn. This was working quite well until recently. I'm not sure what changed since the version hasn't changed! But it no longer switches on its own. :( I'm on a Samsung galaxy s7, android 8.0. I didn't change anything that would explain why it just stopped, but it's been like that for a couple of weeks... EDIT: I'm going to try the trial for Smart WiFi Selector...seems to have better reviews, & worth the small fee if it works as intended!

Works great as long as you go in developer mode( go to settings -> about phone -> software information and repeatedly press on build number) and disable wifi scan throttling. Without this step the app does not work as intended. Keep in mind this drains a bit more battery.

Started off well but now does not function. Possibly android upgrade is not compatible. Will uninstall and look for another app.

I have 3 routers throughout my house to obtain coverage and this app has worked perfectly so far. Another comment said that the app had to be open in order for it to work, but I use it on an LGMP450 and I have only opened the app to adjust the settings and then close it and it still continues to work. I've tested this by physically connecting to a weak access point and it disconnects me and connects me to the stronger one automatically as expected. Thank you so much for this app!

The app works great, but it does require you do three things first: 1. Switch it on and enable location permissions. 2. Disable battery optimization, especially if your phone has particularly aggressive battery management, like OnePlus does. 3. In Developer options (look up how to enable it if you don't see it), disable "Wi-Fi Scan throttling." After going through these steps, the app works beautifully, and switches networks within 20-30 seconds after reaching the set threshold. My suspicion is that a lot of the 1-star reviews are from people not doing the third step, and to be honest, it's kinda esoteric. It would be nice if the developer updated the app to include that caveat, as it took me a few days to figure out on my own.

On my Samsung s9 plus this thing works like a dream. I can't believe how simple and user-friendly it is and it just works. I believe the people who are complaining that it doesn't work are failing to allow the app to access Location settings in the background, and it needs that because it is by its nature, a background app. It does not drain battery, and there's nothing sinister. Just enable Location access in the BG. Thank you for this amazing app, I will be purchasing the pro version.

this app deserves much more love and higher rating because it works on Android prior to Pie (9). Thanks to new Android policy, apps are now limited to just 1 wifi scan per half hour, rendering this app useless on new OS. The developer should update this on the descriptions that this app wont work on Android 9 and that theres nothing they can do (not the dev's fault). Android sucks for changing this and not baking in such useful functionality in itself

Initially thought app didn't work in the background on my phone (S9+, Android 10), then saw Dan Schmidt's comment on 7/27/2020. Turning off "WiFi scan throttling" indeed did the trick (I was able to leave my power settings on Optimized but not adaptive -- I didn't need to completely disable power management). Would be 5 stars if the app worked without this kind of fiddling.
